New time off rights in Luxembourg

The government in Luxembourg has introduced proposals which will give employee representatives an extra 16 hours paid time off for training in the first year after their election.

This is in addition to the one to three weeks over a five-year period of office (depending on the size of the workforce) that they already receive. They also have paid time off for their duties.

The improvement is being introduced as part of a wider reform which will see joint employee/employer works councils being replaced by purely employee bodies.
