Honours

Four senior figures from the trade union movement were made working peers in an honours list announced at the end of May.

They are John Monks, former general secretary of the TUC and current general secretary of the European TUC; Jeannie Drake, a former deputy general secretary of the CWU telecoms union; Margaret Wheeler, director of organisation and staff development at public services union UNISON; and Rita Donaghy, former chair of Acas and former president of the TUC and of UNISON.
