Time off for reps

After extensive consultation, a new code of practice on time off for trade union duties and activities has been published by industrial relations service Acas. It will come into force on 1 October 2009.

Last-minute additions include clauses advising employers to address the problem of work cover for reps when they are absent on union duties or training. The code is available from www.acas.org.uk.
