Union density falls in Poland
Union density in Poland has fallen to 10%, down from 12% a year ago.
The figures suggest that the largest union grouping in Poland is OPZZ, where the teachers’ union is the biggest component, followed by FZZ. Solidarnosc, the body that emerged in opposition to the then Communist government in the 1980s, is now in third place.
The figures indicate that 34% of employees are in workplaces where unions are present. However, a clear majority — 61% — considers that unions have too little influence on political decisions.
