Unions win BBC review
The BBC has agreed to a review of workloads in response to pressure from BECTU and the NUJ. But the two unions together with Unite are balloting over a below-inflation pay offer and cuts in conditions of service.
After strikes and a work to rule, there will now be a department-by-department review conducted largely at local level, with New Broadcasting House in London identified by the unions as the initial priority.
But a flat rate pay offer of £650 has not gone down well with a workforce that has seen its pay fall by 10% in the last five years.
There are also concerns about the threat to unpredictable and unsociable hours allowances, a halving of the redundancy consultation period and capping of benefits.
A strike ballot ends on 4 July.
