Firefighter pay freeze

The FBU firefighters’ union has been offered no increase in pay for 2010-11 by employers despite Retail Prices Index inflation of 5.1% and a claim for the RPI June figure. Employers say a freeze will help protect vital services. The union plans a national rally and lobby of parliament in November to respond to the freeze and cuts in services.
