BA talks resume
cabin crew members of Unite general union are to vote on a new “peace deal” to resolve their dispute with British Airways (BA).
“I am pleased that some serious progress has been made on the issues which have divided us,” said Tony Woodley, Unite general secretary.
Unite reported that BA had asked pilots to act as cabin crew during the strikes before Easter, paying them £166 an hour, compared to normal cabin crew wages of £16 an hour, or £15,000 a year, while temporary crew earned only the equivalent of £11,000 a year. Unite is still arguing with BA over the removal of travel perks from striking staff.
