Clyde safety strike
PORT pilots on the River Clyde took two days of industrial action last month over management attempts to impose new working conditions.
The Pilots Group, represented by the Unite general trade union, said it was forced into action as a result of persistent harassment and intimidation by Clydeport management who want to impose poorer terms and conditions.
Andy MacFarlane, Unite regional officer said: “These dedicated pilots – who are crucial to local maritime safety and economic prosperity – already operate in a high-skill, high pressure environment where there can be no margin for error in an industry where health and safety is paramount.”
