Two-year pay deal in Danish manufacturing

Pay negotiations between the unions and employers for 140,000 workers in Danish manufacturing industry have ended with a modest 2.55% increase agreed.

The unions, who work together in the negotiating cartel CO Industri, agreed the terms of the two-year deal with the employers’ association Dansk Industri in mid-February.

The increase barely keeps pace with inflation, currently running at 2.5% (December 2011). However, in a year when pay cuts and a longer working week were on the table as possibilities, the unions considered the deal as acceptable.
