Shop safety at work

Delegates at shop workers’ union USDAW annual conference in Blackpool called for more protection for women retail staff. They said some employers had a “callous disregard” for women workers who finished work late at night, worked in isolated areas, or who faced threats and harassment from customers. They urged the union to step up a campaign to shame their bosses into taking action.
