Civil service pay

The pay gap between male and female employees in the civil service has increased for part-time workers, according to data released by the Office of National Statistics.

The annual civil service statistics show that the gender pay gap for full-timers was 13%, the same figure as last year. However, the pay gap for part-time employees increased this year from 5% to 12%.

According to the Civil Service Live Network website, the increase in the part-time pay gap may be explained by an increase in the number of men working part-time compared to women.

Overall, the gender pay gap is largely explained by a low representation of women in middle and senior management positions within the civil service.
