Union urges swine flu vaccine for health workers

Health union UNISON has announced that it will give full support to the swine flu vaccination programme for workers in the NHS. UNISON’s Health Service Group Executive made the recommendation after weighing up the risks.

Karen Jennings, UNISON’s Head of Health, said: “We are recommending that all health workers have the swine flu vaccination, in addition to the seasonal winter flu one. There should be no shortcuts to safety when it comes to getting the vaccine up and running. Ultimately, having the injection is down to personal choice, but we are supportive of the move.”
