Prison officers walk out over bullying

Prison officers at Liverpool Prison walked out last month in protest at bullying and harassment by senior management.

The impromptu walk out took place after an officer was sent on “detached duty” to another establishment after making a complaint about the deputy governor. In September this year, an employment tribunal criticised both the governor and deputy governor of the prison during a grievance case. The POA prison officers’ union said that, since then, members at the prison had suffered “continued bullying and harassment”.
