GMB violence campaign
Security workers, particularly those engaged in the transit of cash and valuables, have redoubled their campaign against work-related violence.
At a conference last month, organised by the GMB general union, Jude Brimble, GMB national officer said: “Where possible we need to engineer the cash in transit system so that there are no opportunities for criminals to get near the cash. Where this is not possible, we need to make it as difficult as possible to carry out attacks.”
Brimble said robust sentencing would help to act as a deterrent and that such attacks should be seen as a crime against the person not a business crime.
