Inquiry into deaths has missed the point

The official inquiry into the 2004 ICL Stockline disaster, when nine people died, failed to examine the root causes and was a waste of money, campaigners have said.

Families Against Corporate Killers (FACK) said the inquiry, headed by Lord Gill, missed the point by blaming gas for the explosion. The real blame, FACK said, lay with a system that: “Allows directors of companies to ignore safety, flout the law, be totally ignorant of it and treat workers badly.”
