Shorter week trials
The Polish labour ministry has announced that it will choose the pilot projects for its plan to reduce the working week next month.
The pilots will be financially supported, up to a maximum of 20,000 PLN (£4,094) per person, and employers must reduce hours without reducing pay.
The other conditions include that the trial must last for at least 12 months, at least half the workforce must take part, and at least 90% of the original workforce must be retained over the length of the trial.
The ministry believes a shorter working week could lead to a range of benefits, including better health for employees, a reduced risk of burnout, reduced sickness absence and fewer errors.
The results of the trial are expected in May 2027.
