UNISON goes for growth
Public services union UNISON is to conduct another month-long recruitment and retention campaign in May following the success of a similar drive last November.
The Go for Growth campaign will run from 29 April to 2 June (to accommodate bank holidays) with advertising, social media and press coverage supporting activity on the ground.
This time the campaign will include a pilot of the use by activists of the union’s “member contact tool” for recording workplace visits, and will offer a system of “welcome calls” to new members.
It will also conduct research into leavers’ reasons for quitting the union. UNISON notes that 80% of its members now join online.
