Solidarity campaign for sacked safety rep

The EIS Scottish teachers’ union branch at Edinburgh College has taken four days of strike action in support of branch official and safety rep Keven Scally, and said it would continue to strike four days a week indefinitely until it wins his reinstatement. It is asking trade union branches to contact the principal and chair of the college board to express concern about his treatment. A model letter sets out that Scally is the only employee to be made redundant following the college achieving its savings target through voluntary severance. It adds that “we can only assume” this is “due to the fact that he is a trade union representative". The model letter can be found on the Hazards Campaign website at: https://www.hazardscampaign.org.uk
