Merseyside fire dispute

Staff groups in the Merseyside fire and rescue service have endorsed industrial action over multiple issues. FBU fire brigades union members in fire control, who answer emergency calls, voted for strike action (by 100% on a 92% turnout) over an imposed reduction in night-time staffing, from the agreed level of 6 to 5, and the requirement for some members to work a duty shift system which was never subject to negotiation. Meanwhile, firefighters and “green book” members (non-uniformed staff) will be continuing action short of strike.
