EIS wins £300K

Injured or assaulted members of Scotland’s EIS teaching union have been compensated by a total of £300,000 over the past year, with most settlements being for accidents that employers could easily have avoided (see page 22).

The union’s general secretary, Andrea Bradly, said that while some of the most serious cases involve assaults on teaching staff, “the compensation settlements reveal that the most frequent cause of injury continues to be accidents caused by slips and trips”.
