Slight ease in inflation

The union-preferred Retail Prices Index (RPI) stood at 14.0% (down from 14.2%). The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 10.7% (down from 11.1%) while CPI with a housing element (CPIH) rose by 9.3% (down from 9.6%).

Upward pressures included housing and household services (electricity and gas, etc) and food and non-alcoholic beverages. The largest downward contribution came from transport, particularly motor fuels.
