Drivers join GFTU

A small but growing private hire drivers’ union from outside the TUC has joined the General Federation of Trade Unions.

The UK Private Hire Drivers Union (UKPHD), which describes itself as a “grass roots union”, was first listed by the Certification Officer in 2021 with some 600 members.

Its chair, Muhumed Ali, told the Morning Star: “GFTU offers a large amount of support and first-class educational opportunities which can help our union grow and develop further, working with other unions across our movement.”
