NUJ election

The next general secretary of the NUJ journalists’ union will again be female, as two women are currently battling it out to take on the role which will be vacated by Michelle Stanistreet.

The two candidates are NUJ full-time official Laura Davison and current union president Natasha Hirst. The result will be announced on 8 October.

Stanistreet, who was the union’s first female at the helm when first elected in 2011, is stepping down at the end of her current term.
