Inflation falls

RPI inflation was 3.6% in January 2025. Inflation statistics for February had not yet been released at the time of going to press.

Many prices that are crucial for household budgets are rising faster than general inflation. April will see the Ofgem energy price cap increase by 6.4%. Water bills will increase by £10 a month on average with dramatic regional variation. Regulated rail fares (including on TfL) increased by 4.6% in March.
