Unite secures flagship menopause policy

Women workers at Jaguar Land Rover will benefit from a new menopause support policy secured by the Unite union in April.

The policy includes the right to flexible working, access to fans, additional breaks and changes to workwear, while also enabling sick leave to be granted for menopause symptoms.

Unite research showed more than 80% of those experiencing the menopause do not have access to basic support at work and that some are forced to take early retirement.

The union’s general secretary Sharon Graham said: “As this policy shows, Unite is using its industrial power to challenge this dire lack of provision, which has a detrimental impact on women’s working lives.”
