Automotive pay

Car company pay has not quite been in the overtaking lane this year. At Stellantis in Ellesmere Port and at IBC Vehicles in Luton there was a 4% increase in basic pay for all grades from 1 January, plus a non-consolidated lump sum payment of £325. At Ford, 3,000 hourly-paid workers accepted a 2.5% increase on base pay effective from 24 November 2023 plus a bonus worth 2.5% of base pay.

The industry is often a trend-setter in pay, with around 30 manufacturers and 2,500 parts makers employing 781,800 people, including 182,000 directly in manufacturing.
