Employment Tribunal procedure rules

The rules governing the procedures in Employment Tribunals have been updated, replacing the old rules. The Employment Tribunal Procedure Rules 2024 SI 2024/1155 came into force with effect from 6 January 2025.

Although many of the changes are simplifications and modernisations there are some important points, getting rid of provisions that are now redundant. Of significance to claimants and their representatives is the removal of references in the rules to tribunal fees. References to EU law have also been removed.

These new rules now include provisions for the employment tribunal to delegate some functions of a judicial nature to legal officers.
