Grenfell compensation
The FBU firefighters’ union last month announced that claims brought by 114 firefighters injured in the Grenfell tragedy have been settled in the High Court for £20 million.
Some were unable to work again due to severe trauma. Defendants in the claim included Arconic Architectural Products, Celotex and Rydon Maintenance Limited, as well as the Royal London Borough of Kensington and the London Fire Commissioner.
The settlement follows an earlier High Court settlement for nearly 900 cases on behalf of the bereaved, survivors and residents affected.
These relate only to civil claims and do not impact the ongoing public inquiry or the potential for any criminal charges in the future.
