More above-inflation deals in Austria

With inflation in Austria currently 5.6% (December), more agreements have settled well above this level in the last few weeks. The biggest is for around 430,000 non-manual employees working in retail and wholesale, who in a 12-month deal see their pay increase between 9.2% and 8.3% in January. The around 18,000 employees of charitable organisations have negotiated a 9.2% increase, and those working in children's education have a 9.7% rise. Both these apply from January 2024 and run for one year.

In the railway industry, the vida union has negotiated an improvement on the existing settlement, which was due to run until February 2024. Instead, the 8.3% increase, which with a minimum payment of €190 represents an almost 10% increase for the lowest paid, has been backdated to 1 December 2023.
