Unite recognition
The Unite general union has won what it calls a “historic vote” for recognition at Derry-based external hard drives manufacturer Seagate after the 540 manufacturing specialists “voted overwhelmingly for trade union recognition”.
The ballot followed what Unite called “a protracted battle, with the statutory process taking over a year”, during which “the employer brought in union busters, one of whom had previously been engaged by Amazon in union-busting drives in the USA”.
