Safety ‘won’t be forgotten in race to Net Zero’

Safety will be a central part of Britain’s move to Net Zero, the HSE’s top scientist, professor Andrew Curran, has pledged. He said HSE scientists are already safeguarding safety during the introduction of Net Zero technologies, including through their work on lithium-ion batteries, the use of hydrogen-fuelled vehicles in tunnels, and the use of hydrogen as a potential flight fuel. This work is included in the annual HSE science review at https://www.hse.gov.uk/research/content/science-review-2023.pdf.
