Tesla increases pay

Tesla, the US-owned electric vehicles maker, has announced that it will increase pay for employees at its plant in Grünheide, near Berlin. The company has not confirmed the size of the pay increase, but it comes after Germany’s largest union, IG Metall, last month organised a show of its support in the plant, which, unlike other German car plants, is not covered by collective bargaining. More than 1,000 employees wore IG Metall stickers on their T-shirts as part of a week of action. Although the company has stated that pay is simply being “adjusted”, IG Metall has described it as the first concrete result of their action.
