Health and safety is a fundamental right

Unions across the world will mark International Workers’ Memorial Day on 28 April by demanding the International Labour Organization (ILO) adopts occupational health and safety as a fundamental right at work.

The 2019 ILO centenary conference agreed to do this, but the ITUC international trade union confederation says that in the three years since, some 8.1 million people have died as a result of their work, and a worker dies at least once every 10 seconds.
