French Covid arrangements negotiated not imposed
Figures from the ministry of labour in France have shown that workplace changes linked to Covid involved extensive negotiations at company level in 2020. Between the start of the pandemic in March and the end of 2020, there were 8,180 negotiated agreements at company level, compared with 2,410 written policies unilaterally imposed by the employer. In 70% of cases the agreements were signed by the union delegate or someone with a union mandate, with the rest were either agreed with a non-union elected representative or approved by the employees themselves.
