Danish local government settles
As expected, unions and local authority employers in Denmark have agreed a two-year pay settlement for around 500,000 employees, the largest public sector group. The agreement which runs from April this year, is worth 8.8% overall, the same as in the settlement for central government (see Workplace Report March 2024, page 8). Pay goes up by 6.5%, including a mechanism to ensure public sector pay doesn’t fall behind pay in the private sector. There is an extra 2.0% for individual professional groups to negotiate and a boost for those on the lowest wages. Inflation in February was 0.8%.
