Recognition wins

Staff at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of general union Unite being recognised as the union to represent them on pay and employment issues. The 200-plus staff members voted by 87% in favour of union recognition, in a turnout of 76%. The vote came after two rounds of redundancies at the RCGP since the start of the Covid pandemic.

And the RMT transport union won a statutory claim for recognition at Briggs Marine Contractors without the need for a ballot, as 22 of the 24 staff in the bargaining unit were found to already be RMT members.

Similarly, general union Unite was granted recognition at Parkingeye, where all five staff were found to be in membership.
