Little progress on racial inclusion

There has been limited progress on reaching race-related diversity, equity and inclusion targets in the workplace over the fours years since George Floyd’s murder on 25 May 2020, according to a global data review by DEI comparison website Windo.

The BAME workforce has increased significantly in just 18 of the 500 global companies analysed, while half the 16 Fortune 100 and FTSE 100 companies that shared data have improved representation by less than 5%, and just four UK companies have seen a significant rise in BAME senior leaders.

Sandra Kerr, race director of Business in the Community, said: “It is the responsibility of businesses to ensure the UK workforce reflects the wider UK working-age population at all levels, but unfortunately this is not the case as only one in 10 people in senior positions come from an ethnically diverse background.”
