French unions

French unions have welcomed the defeat of the far right National Rally party in the elections on 7 July.

However, while the more militant CGT confederation has called for a government to be formed by the left-wing New Popular Front grouping, the more moderate CFDT confederation says it is waiting for a new government to emerge from the parliament.
