Works councils

The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has called for the rapid introduction of a new directive on the rights of European Works Councils, Europe-wide company information and consultation bodies representing employees.

It argues that the existing 2009 directive is not fit for purpose, meaning that workers’ rights “only exist on paper”.
