Inflation stalls

Inflation partially stalled in September as the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) and CPI with a housing element (CPIH) remained unchanged at 6.7% and 6.3% respectively.

The Retail Prices Index (RPI) measure — the union-preferred measure — did fall slightly but remained at 8.9%, still ahead of earnings and pay growth.

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices fell on the month for the first time since September 2021.
