Distillery workers win £4,900 boost to wages

Workers at Edrington Distillers in Drumchapel have accepted a pay deal worth 12% over a year, ending a dispute over new shift patterns and unsociable hours.

Around 40 Unite members, including engineers, electricians and boilermen, will get a backdated 3% rise in January, with a further 9% to come in April. The settlement has a monetary value of between £2,450 and £4,900, which the union states can easily be afforded from the company’s rising profits.

Unite industrial officer Graham McNab commented: “The dispute is now over through this great deal for workers. Our members were determined to get what they deserved and in line with industry standards.”
