EU minimum wage directive adopted

New EU legislation on adequate minimum wages has finally been adopted, with the council, which brings together representatives of national governments, agreeing it on 4 October. As well as requiring states with an existing minimum wage to ensure that it is adequate, all 27 member states must report on the level of collective bargaining coverage and take steps to improve it if it falls below 80%.
