Tech barons

Silicon Valley does not trump UK standards on how people should be treated at work, said the Prospect specialists’ union.

It called on the government to make clear to tech barons running the Meta and Twitter social media companies that they must fully comply with UK law after announcing global plans to make thousands of workers redundant.

Prospect general secretary Mike Clancy said big tech companies have gone unchecked for too long.

“The government needs to make clear to Meta that if they are making redundancies in the UK, they must fully comply with the UK law and consult employees in a fair and transparent manner,” he added.
