‘Green steel’

Up to 10,000 workers from the German steel company Thyssenkrupp marched through the streets of Duisburg on 14 June, calling for support for a more sustainable form of steel production.

The demonstration was organised by IG Metall, Germany’s largest union, to press for financial backing from the government for technology that reduces the climate impact of steel production.
