New leader for musicians’ union
The Musicians Union will have a new general secretary after 22 March this year, when current leader Horace Trubridge’s term of office comes to an end.
An election process for a new leader got under way last month, with at least four candidates known to have put their hats in the ring. They are Naomi Pohl, current deputy general secretary; Keith Ames, PR and marketing official; Morris Stemp, orchestras official; and lay member Stephen Brown.
Nominations, which are made by each of the union’s regions, were taking place as Labour Research went to press.
Assuming more than one candidate is nominated, a ballot will be run from 14 February till 7 March.
