Stressed out public sector workers
Tory cuts that have slashed a million public sector jobs are linked to shocking levels of pressure and exhaustion, says the general GMB union. It pointed to a recent Chartered Institute for Personnel Development and Halogen Employee Outlook survey which shows that public sector employees report the highest levels of pressure and exhaustion at work across the sectors.
The survey of 2,000 employees found that 43% of employees in the public sector say that they are under excessive pressure at work at least once a week. In addition, 46% say that they come home from work exhausted always or mostly, significantly more than private sector employees (29%).
