Royal Mail managers
A “paltry” 1.3% pay offer may mean Royal Mail managers taking industrial action.
The 4,900 managers, members of the Unite general union, have been asked to vote on taking strike action and/or industrial action short of a strike.
It’s a different pay story in the boardroom. Chief executive Moya Greene saw a 2.4% rise in her base salary and a 12.5% rise in her short term bonus. Overall, her total remuneration package shrank by 4.9% to £1.52 million, but no one would call £29,269 a week “paltry”.
Chief financial officer Matthew Lester also saw a slight reduction in his total remuneration package to £1.31 million for the year. That works out to £25,212 a week.
The 2014-15 remuneration report shows that the chair’s fees increased by 9.5% to £230,000, while for other the non-executive directors the rise was 11.1% to £50,000 with effect from 1 April 2015.
