Ballot on Met Police offer

PCS members at the Metropolitan Police were being balloted on a non-monetary offer of an extra day’s leave and long-service leave as Workplace Report went to press.

After strike action on 31 December and the threat of two more days on 12-13 February, the employer was seen as having “moved” in response to members’ pressure and the settlement was recommended by the union’s group executive.

Other PCS objectives were also addressed concerning staff morale, the case for distributing any pay increases in 2014 to benefit the lower paid and a ring-fenced training and development budget.
