No progress on Greek talks
The Greek government and the European institutions plus the International Monetary Fund have still not reached agreement on a new package of employment law changes which have been under discussion for months.
A meeting of ministers from the Eurozone on 20 March ended without agreement, and it now appears that May is the earliest likely date for a settlement.
The employment law changes, which potentially include new rules on strikes and collective bargaining (see Labour Research, January 2017, page 8), are not the only point of disagreement. The two sides are also deadlocked over pensions, tax changes and energy deregulation.
