UK economy grows in third quarter 2017
The UK economy grew 0.4% in the third quarter, unchanged from the previous estimate, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The service industries — the largest component of gross domestic product (GDP) — increased by 0.4%, unrevised from the second estimate of GDP.
However, the ONS has revised production output upwards. Production output was estimated to have increased by 1.3% between second and third quarters of last year — a revision upwards of 0.2 percentage points from the second estimate of GDP. Manufacturing is a sub-sector of production and it also posted a quarter-on-quarter increase of 1.3%.
GDP increased by 1.7% on the third quarter 2016 .
